Bio:
Having recently been compared to early Joni Mitchell, Jeff Buckley, Jewel, Kate Bush and Katie Melua, Ellie Mulhern is a
young singer/songwriter, originaly from Shetland, with a mesmeric, high and distinctive voice - “but she's no copycat” (JR, The Shetland Times) -
who delivers powerful and absorbing live sets.
"she conquered the noisy pub twice, confirming her status as the possessor of Shetland's most athletic voice."
John Robertson, The Shetland Times, Single Launch Gig Review.
For over two years, Ellie (21) and her brother Andrew (25) have been captivating audiences with their unique, raw
and inspired brand of acoustic music with gigs in Shetland, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness.
They have recently supported Aberfeldy, Stacy Earle (Steve Earle's sister), The Grim Northern Social, The Alison
Brown Quartet, Unkle Bob, Ewan MacFarlane, Miles Hunt (the wonder stuff), FOUND, Roddy Hart, Tobias Froberg and Heather MacLeod and recieved
radio play on The Tom Morton Show (BBC Radio Scotland) and local Shetland Radio.
Following three sell-out shows in Shetland in late 2004 and the release of a debut
limited edition single through BleatBeat Records, she was invited to perform at the Shetland Folk Festival 2005,
Aberdeen GoNorth Festival 2005 and Edinburgh Rush Festival 2005.
Ellie Mulhern is young and gifted and one of the most promising female singer/songwriters to come out of Shetland in recent years...
